This is the third collaboration between the Japanese avant-folk group Tenniscoats and Marcus Acher (from Notwist), along with a number of other musical vagabonds. It's the slightest of Spirit Fest's three works (length-wise) but also – and perhaps for this very reason – their loveliest. It's a little gem.

I'm glad I keep stumbling upon projects Tape has been involved in through the years, as their collaborative works for me are among their best. Following on from 2007's Tan-Tan Therapy, Tenniscoats and Tape continue with their great blend of post-rock ambience, lo-fi folk and soft vocal passages, that make for peaceful easy-listening afternoons. Throwing in the 2008 Lutie Lutie / Come Maddalena 7" as two bonus tracks is also a nice touch.

Hearing Tape's sweeping post-rock tones backed by soft vocals makes for lovely laid-back listening. Surprised it took me so long to find out Tan-Tan Therapy and Papa's Ear existed, but both of these collaboration albums strike a great mix between calming lo-fi folk ambience and upbeat carefree pop.

Ich habe "Vertigo Days" kurz nach Erscheinen ein mal gehört, gemocht und erst einmal leider vergessen. Heute beim Überfliegen meiner Notizen bin ich wieder daraufgestoßen und habe bemerkt, WIE gut das eigentlich ist. Am schönsten finde ich das "Into Love"-Pattern zu Anfang und Ende.
